Tactivo set for new mobile platforms

Precise Biometrics has announced it is set to release Tactivo for Android.

According to the company, it is also working on developing Tactivo for other mobile platforms. Prototypes will be available for selected partners in May with market launch scheduled for the second quarter of the month.

Precise Biometrics says that with this launch it is expanding its offering outside the existing iOS-based product range. The new Tactivo will ensure that Precise Biometrics can cover the full scope of smartphones and tablets in use by government and enterprise customers. A complementary mobile toolkit for Android will also be released to app developers during the spring.

To help broaden its mobile product range, the company has entered into a strategic partnership with Sony Mobile’s consultancy unit in Lund, Sweden.

“We chose Sony Mobile Consultant Business Unit as our partner because of its impressive track record within the mobile market and Android development, as well as with time to market in mind,” says Thomas Marschall, CEO and president of Precise Biometrics. “Partnering with Sony will provide market availability much sooner than initially planned. The new products will allow us to increase our market potential to cover more than 90% of the smartphones and tablets in our focus segments. This is particularly important on the smartphone side as our customers are often using several different brands of phones. With an offering covering the full spectrum, IT departments will only have to engage one vendor to secure the same level of security for all employees.”

Björn Lundqvist, responsible for Engineering Services at Sony Mobile Consultant Business Unit, says: “With our extensive experience in mobile Android devices we will support Precise Biometrics to rapidly and cost efficiently bring high quality Android products to market.”
