HID Global awarded for HID goID platform for MDLs

Secure identity solutions firm HID Global has won the 2016 Security Products Govies Award for its new HID goID platform for mobile IDs .

The firm won the award in the catergory "User Authentication/Identification/Credentialing and Management", in an event run by Security Products magazine.

The  HID goID platform enables driver’s licenses and other citizen IDs to be carried on smartphones that become all-in-one devices for receiving, presenting and authenticating mobile IDs.

“This award reaffirms the accelerating demand we are seeing from citizens and governments that want to use mobile IDs to simplify lives, empower users with more applications, and increase the level of trust in using a digital identity,” said Rob Haslam, Vice President and Managing Director, Government ID with HID Global.

"HID Global is uniquely positioned to meet this demand with our HID goID platform, and we have a growing number of government agencies around the world currently looking at our solution.”

In a statement, the firm noted that the HID goID platform offers a number of benefits including preventing fraud, optimizing flexibility for online authentication if a citizen’s smartphone battery is dead, and enabling users to present credentials with a Bluetooth or connection rather than physically relinquishing their smartphones.

HID said the platform also simplifies credential issuance and eliminates the need to stand in line for new cards and renewals by enabling over-the-air provisioning, renewals or change of data, such as address change.

HID Global will also be showcasing the platform at SDW 2016, 10-12 May, London, UK. SDW is a world-leading conference and exhibition event providing a global showcase for next-generation human identity solutions, focusing on intrinsic document security and on the new cutting-edge secure infrastructure now required to produce and use these advanced documents in live situations. www.sdw2016.com
