Access-IS to secure gaming ID

06/02/20

Access-IS has announced the integration and installation of its OCR315e and OCR310e ID Document readers by Deep s.r.o. for checking eligibility of players at multiple locations throughout Slovakia.

Ensuring compliance with local and national regulations, Deep s.r.o have integrated Access-IS swipe readers with their web based application that allows checking of captured identity information from passports and citizen ID cards.

Changes to legislation globally have been tightening Know Your Customer (KYC), Know Your Employee (KYE) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) processes over the past few years. Slovakia has not been immune to these and has seen a number of significant changes since its new Gambling Act was first approved on 4th December 2018. One of the changes has been the implementation of eligibility checking designed to protect both the customer and the operator.

The DEEP solution using Access-IS readers parses the name and date of birth from the MRZ of a swiped ID Card or passport, and then sends it onto Government Servers, via the web application to check the person’s eligibility. A simple ‘Eligible’ or ‘Not eligible’ message is displayed, having checked the details against a number of criteria set out by the authorities which include; age, social security status and even an option for citizens to exclude themselves.

In addition to checks being made against the eligibility database, the details are used to drive casinos and gambling halls loyalty card schemes. During registration, the ID card is scanned and the data stored allowing establishments to provide players with a loyalty card. This way the loyalty card users don’t need to show their ID (or passport) when entering a casino.

Speaking about the sale, Attila Tihanyi, CTO of DEEP s.r.o., said “The OCR315e is easy to set up with its keyboard emulation mode. So far all the readers have been simple and quick to deploy and are working faultlessly.” He continued “The OCR310e is a great little device; it’s very cost effective and is surprisingly easy to integrate with computers or microcontrollers. It was love at first sight for our hardware engineer”.
