CoreStreet has launched the PIVMAN System, which is designed to meet the requirements of US Federal Information Processing Standard 201 (FIPS 201).
The system consists of handheld devices and software for back-end servers, and uses the FIPS 201 IT infrastructure, so any issued card is automatically enrolled in it.
CoreStreet says the PIVMAN System has already played a role in homeland security exercises run by the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS), including Winter Fox, Eligible Bridge and the DHS Maritime Port Interoperability Exercise. According to the company: “The exercises demonstrated that individuals from multiple organisations and jurisdictions could have the status of their government-issued smart credentials accurately checked and logged during an emergency in which communications channels were unavailable. The logs generated by the PIVMAN Handhelds were then used to create comprehensive audit trails and after-action reports.”
In addition to FIPS 201 cards, the credentials used in these exercises included the Department of Defense Common Access Card (CAC), the Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), the First Responder Authentication Credential (FRAC), and the Mariner Administrative Card (MAC).
CoreStreet says its system can be configured to meet the needs of various deployments. A starter package for validating credentials is available for US$24,950. This includes two handhelds, a PIV Management Station and one year of support.
