SESAME finalists confirmed

15 October 2009

The finalists for this year’s SESAMES awards have been announced, with four firms short listed for the Identification category.

The contenders for this year’s identification award are Infineon Technologies with SLE 95050 ORIGA Family, INSIDE Contactless with MicroPass 5100, JDSU with HoloFuse and Oberthur Technologies with ID-One Sky.

INSIDE Contactless says its MicroPass 5100 ‘ICAO-Lite’ offerings can be used for creating driver licenses, voting cards, residence permits, electronic benefits transfer documents and other paper-based eID documents that meet ICAO standards, but with less stringent data storage requirements.

Oberthur says its ID-One Sky is designed to enhance physical security of smart card-based ID documents.

JDSU’s HoloFuse is a polycarbonate film designed to help protect government-issued ID documents against counterfeiting and tampering. According to JDSU, HoloFuse is the first solution to include a hologram integrated into a polycarbonate film without the use of adhesives. The film in turn becomes the clear outer layer of ID documents, helping to reduce the ability of counterfeiters to separate card layers and tamper with their security. The partially transparent and customised hologram within the polycarbonate film includes over, covert and forensic security features.

Infineon’s SLE 95050 ORIGA family is based on elliptic curve asymmetric cryptography, and is designed for original product authentication and brand protection.

The SESAMES Awards will be presented on 16 November at a gala evening to celebrate the opening of the CARTES 2009 exhibition.
