IPS announces short-list of firms

09 December 2008

The UK’s Identity and Passport Service (IPS) has announced the shortlist of companies for the ‘Card Design & Production’ and ‘Application & Enrolment’ capabilities in the delivery of the National Identity Scheme.

According to the IPS, a small number of firms have now been short-listed to go forward to the next stage of procurements to engage in more detailed contract discussions. For the ‘Card Design and Production’ procurement these are Fujitsu, IBM and Thales. CSC and Fujitsu have been short-listed for the ‘Application and Enrolment’ procurement.

“Following detailed negotiations, final tenders will be submitted for these contracts as well as for the ‘Passport Design and Production’ and ‘National Biometric Identity Service’ procurements,” says the IPS.

All contracts are expected to be awarded during 2009.
