TrĂ¼b unveils tru/window LOCK
31 October 2011
Trüb has launched the tru/window LOCK, a personalisation security feature for laser-engraved polycarbonate travel and ID documents.
According to the company, it protects the cardholder’s portrait against tampering after issuance. It says the new security feature is designed for laser-engraved polycarbonate documents such as national ID cards and passport data pages. The technology is based on a laser ablation personalisation process on a metallic foil which is integrated into a transparent window. A ghost image is laser personalised into the metal foil so simultaneous manipulation of the cardholder’s portrait and ghost image after document issuance will leave visible traces. As a result, fraudulent alteration of the cardholder’s portrait can be detected.
The tru/window LOCK security feature will be presented at the Cartes & Identification exhibition held in Paris from 15 to 17 November 2011.
