Avalon scoops Argentinean deal
19 August 2011
Avalon Biometrics has inked a deal with prime contractor VALID/Argentina to deliver its BioCap biometric enrolment system and Visalon live enrolment and data capture capabilities to Argentinean embassies and consulates worldwide.
The system will be used for the personalisation and issuance of travel and ID documents. Avalon says its live enrolment system will be used for expats living abroad applying for passports and ID cards; for citizen’s wanting to update their registered information and biometrics details; and for foreigners applying for a visa with their biometric details.
The BioCap and Visalon system has been customised for use by Argentinean government agencies. It collects general and biographical data and biometric information such as photos, fingerprints and signatures as well as archiving supporting documents that are linked to the specific application
It will be integrated with the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ data exchange system for secure online data exchange via encrypted communication channels.
The technology will be fully operational at all Argentinean embassies and consulates worldwide at the beginning of the fourth quarter of this year.
