NADRA claims to win Sudanese project

Pakistan’s National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) claims to have won a contract with the Republic of Sudan in order to develop and implement a civil registration and identity system for the country.

NADRA reportedly signed a contract with Kushite Integrated Company Ltd, a subsidiary of the Sudanese Ministry of Interior. The project is expected to last for four months and includes software development, monitoring and training.

The project will not only issue identity cards to Sudanese Sudan but will also develop a centralised and integrated civil registration system backed with a sophisticated multi-biometric data warehouse. The warehouse will be integrated with multiple internal and external interfaces, which records all events of births, marriages, divorces, deaths and family certificates.

To date, NADRA has registered more than 92 million citizens and issued Computerized National Identity Cards (CNIC) to more than 62 million adult citizens of Pakistan.
