HJP Consulting inks UAE ePassport deal

 

Germany-based HJP Consulting has been awarded a long term ePassport consultancy project from the Ministry of the Interior of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Under the terms of the deal, HJP’s experts will accompany the planning, procurement and approval process of the UAE’s ePassport project. The first stage of the project has involved the consultants presenting a field study to the Ministry during the International Security National Resilience (ISNR) exhibition in Abu Dhabi.

The study covers an analysis of the current passport system and a gap analysis of the areas which need to be improved with ePassport technology.

At the end of a first phase the consultants will prepare a technical and business requirements catalogue. These specifications will become part of an international request-for-proposal (RFP), which is planned to be issued in the middle of 2008. Later on the consultants will support the Ministry by running test and approval processes to ensure that all system components meet both local and international requirements.
