Atos Origin and Sagem have reportedly won a contract worth in the region of 80 million euros from the French government to produce biometric ePassports. The news was originally reported by Le Journal du Dimanche , where it said the companies are to supply 5,000 terminals to local town halls and train local officials.
The first biometric passports are due to be produced at the end of June.
Atos and Sagem won the contract in the face of competition from three rival consortiums: Thales-Accenture, Capgemini-Sopra Group and Bull-Zetes, it was reported.
