The Iranian government has selected the LP2100 personal identification system from ruhlamat to personalise ePassports with biometric, optical and electronic information.

ruhlamat claims its centralised high speed colour print system uses colour printing technology that allows for a throughput of up to 1000 passports per hour.

The Iranian government has also ordered three additional chip card machines for the production and personalising of Iranian driving licenses and ID cards. The German firm reports that in the future, the card bodies will be milled and implanted by an MS330-2 and personalised by two MS150-2 units.

According to ruhlamat, the addition of the LP2100 has broadened its machinery portfolio and created the possibility of acquiring a complete passport manufacturing line from one source. The company says it offers the manufacture of the passport through its PA2000; the pre-personalising stage through its LP2000 and personalisation via laser engraving, colour printing and RFID chip with its LP2100.
