The Swiss government has approved plans to include biometric data on foreigners’ residence cards.

The permits will include a digital photo and two fingerprints of the cardholder.

Each permit holder’s information will be stored on a central information system for five years.

According to swissinfo.ch, the new biometric permits will require a change in the law. ePassports were approved by Swiss voters earlier this year.
