Datacard printer used in Illinois scheme

L-1 Identity Solutions has selected Datacard’s SP75 Plus card printer for use in the state-wide Illinois driving licence programmes.

The lightweight, dye-sublimation printer provides in-line, dual-sided printing and laminating.  Enhanced performance and improved card quality comes from Datacard Certified Supplies featuring Intelligent Supplies Technology, which includes ribbons and laminates that contain radio frequency identification (RFID) technology.

This RFID technology used by the printer (but not contained in the cards it produces) works with many laminates including Datacard’s DuraGard Optigram, which offer state governments unique security features that meet Level One, Two and Three inspection requirements, help provide tamper evidence and assist in the detection of fraudulent documents.
