Cross Match Technologies has been selected by Bolivia’s national electoral commission to help modernise its voter registration process.
Cross Match is providing more than 2400 L SCAN Guardian systems to Corte Nacional Electoral (CNE) for the new biometric-based voter registration programme. The Guardian ten-print capture scanners are being incorporated into portable voter registration and enrolment stations throughout Bolivia in an attempt to register more than four million voters ahead of December’s elections.
During enrolment, citizens will provide a digital photograph and fingerprints as well as demographic information such as name, age and address. The record will then be stored on a central database and will be used for comparison when the individual presents themselves to vote. “The biometric enrolment will help to protect voters by assisting in the elimination of voter fraud,” says Bill Dumont, senior vice president, Worldwide Sales and Marketing at Cross Match.
Cross Match says that Guardian is designed for rapid forensic quality fingerprint capture and has unique features such as a patented auto capture capability and Perfect Roll technology for foolproof fingerprint acquisition and easy enrolment.
