In a move aimed at standardizing border control facilities within the Caribbean, the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) is set to launch CARIPASS multi-state travel documents.
The new documents, which are the size of a credit card and contain the biometric and biographic data of the cardholder, allow CARICOM citizens and residents of participating states aged over 16 to pass through automated border control gates in selected airports.
Rollout of the documents – valid for a period of either one or three years – is being coordinated by the Implementation Agency for Crime and Security (CARICOM IMPACS)
Countries participating in the scheme include Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, St Kitts & Nevis, Saint Lucia, St Vincent & the Grenadines and Trinidad & Tobago.
