ePassport compliance test service announced

A compliance testing service for ICAO-based ePassports and Government IDs has been announced by UK company RFI-Smart.

The company said that there is a real challenge to make sure that all ePassports work correctly since, to date, there is no worldwide regulatory body, as exists in the payment industry.

The key issues, according to RFI-Smart, are security, functionality and interoperability. To ensure all of these are met, rigorous testing is crucial, the company claims, especially when considering the huge operational and financial implications of ePassport failure.

RFI-Smart’s e-Passport and ID Compliance Testing service is underpinned by almost 20 years of radio frequency (RF) testing, particularly in the highly regulated payment industry. It is accredited to ISO 17025.
