Face technology for New Zealand

 

Immigration New Zealand is evaluating biometric face recognition technology as part of a new short-term trial to verify travellers entering the country.

During the trial, visa applicants will have their photo taken using technology from Daon, and this will be used for subsequent verification when the applicant attempts to entry the country.

The evaluation is separate from the country’s the Immigration Global Management System (IGMS).
