Turkey implements SAFE ID personalization system

SAFE ID Solutions has been awarded a contract to supply its latest manual inkjet personalization system, the MS 300, for use in the roll out of Turkey’s ePassport system.

SAFE ID was awarded the contract by IRIS-KUNT, the consortium which successfully bid for the turnkey solution to implement the ePassport Turkish electronic passport project.

Aykut Kozanoglu, Board Member of Kunt, the consortium partner of the prime contractor for the Turkish ePassport project said that despite the basic structural and logistical challenges resulting from Turkey’s direct jump from non-MRTD passports to electronic passports, the government has defined strict requirements for the quality, security and efficiency of all related processes and components.

The Turkish ePassport project team are aiming for the project to become a benchmark within Europe, in particular with respect to its secure, de-centralized issuance approach.
