Gemalto inks Queensland deal

Gemalto has been selected to provide eID cards to Australia’s Queensland Police Service.

The deployment uses the company’s Protiva family of solutions.

Currently, officers at the State agency carry separate photo identification cards and building access cards, and use pass codes to gain entry to network systems. These will be replaced by a new police ID solution featuring dual interface microprocessor cards, PC Twin smartcard readers and the Classic Client software.
