India is putting the final touches to its ePassport system, which will be introduced tomorrow (Wednesday) according to local media.
The new scheme will be launched when the country’s external affairs minister Pranab Mukherjee presents ePassport documents to President Pratibha Patil, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Vice President Hamid Ansari.
During the first phase of deployment, ePassports are being issued to those carrying official and diplomatic passports. By next year, they will also be issued to citizens.
