Swedish firm Speed Identity has received an order from Gemalto to supply photo and signature capture devices for delivery to the Swedish tax authority.
The government agency has started to issue secure ID cards in place of Swedish post offices, which no longer supply them. The authority is tasked with ensuring that all Swedish residents have access to secure ID cards.
The equipment will be installed at around 100 tax service offices during 2010.
The Speed Capture Light devices will be used for the production of secure ID cards for Swedish residents. According to the company, they have been approved by the ICAO and are suitable for medium-sized data collection for corporate ID, ePassport, visa and national ID cards.
