Gemalto receives NASPO certification

Gemalto’s advanced manufacturing and service centre in Pennsylvania, US, has received the security assurance certification from the North American Security Products Organization (NASPO). The audit renewed the certification of Gemalto’s security practices and procedures against the ANSI/NASPO Class II ‘Assurance Standards for the Document and Product Security Industries’.

According to Gemalto, the NASPO standard certification evaluates all security practices within the centre. This includes the manufacturing and services processes, security controls for the supply chain and critical component suppliers, as well as policies and procedures to ensure only authorised customers have access to finished products.

The Pennsylvania facility produces, personalises and delivers a range of secure products such as US ePassports, Personal Identity Verification (PIV) cards for US federal government employees, credit and debit cards, contactless payment cards, subscriber identification modules (SIMs) and universal identification cryptographic cards (UICCs) for mobile telecoms.

“The NASPO standard audit provides a rigorous third-party accreditation assuring our customers that security best practices, controls, processes and procedures are strictly enforced for everything we produce and deliver.”
