PWPW – the Polish Public Printing Works – has placed an order for ePassport inlays to help it meet the demands of EU and national legislation, which both specify the roll out of electronic passports by 28 August this year.
The country – a new EU member – has a population of more than 38 million and an annual passport demand of 1.5 million. PWPW placed an initial inlay order with ASEC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of On Track Innovations (OTI). Under the contract, ASEC will supply contactless inlays which will be adhered to the passport cover. The government intends to roll out the first electronic passports starting this quarter.
OTI claims that its electronic passport product has successfully passed tests by certified laboratories based on the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and ISO 14443 testing procedures, for product performance including security, durability, communications, personalization and more.
