3M Security Systems has launched the 3M Polycarbonate Security Film for laser personalisation.
“The laser-engraveable film layers necessary to create polycarbonate ID cards and passport data pages are available with 3M Security Systems’ proprietary security materials incorporated, such as the company’s clear to cyan, holographic and floating image technologies,” says the firm.
“These new security films expand our capabilities and better enable us to be a full-solutions security provider for our customers,” says Pat Wheeler, security materials business manager, 3M Security Systems Division.
3M says the film is available in multiple widths and dimensions to meet specific credentialing needs. It is compatible with conventional printing equipment. Clear, laser-engraveable and opaque white formulations allow additional customisation in the construction of the card, and the film also offers the ability to print prior to lamination with polycarbonate printing presses and inks.
The films are compatible with Teslin substrates, CLI/MLI holograms, PC-specific inks, smart card electronics and 3M-approved security films, and can be constructed to meet varying laser-engraving credential needs.
