HID Global has expanded its Genuine HID card printer and encoder portfolio with the launch of its new FARGO DTC1000M Monochrome Printer/Encoder.

“The new DTC1000M enables more customers to step up to FARGO quality. From the affordable and convenient DTC1000M, to the high duty performance HDP8500 Industrial Card Printer/Encoder, HID Global offers the broadest range of card personalisation systems,” says Dan DeFore, director of product marketing for Secure Issuance with HID Global. “With the release of this entry-level printer, HID is positioned to meet customer card issuance needs with a vast range of card printer/encoder options, including card issuance supplies and intuitive ID card issuance software solutions.”

HID says the FARGO DTC1000M is designed for organizations such as governments, casinos, financial services firms, retailers and small or medium-sized businesses who issue badges requiring only monochrome printing. Additionally, an erase-and-rewrite printing option is designed for visitor badges and temporary worker IDs.

It adds that the DTC1000M prints a single-colour, edge-to-edge image on one side of a standard CR-80 or CR-79 identification card. The resin thermal transfer process ensures clear reproduction of photo images, bar codes and alphanumeric data. Ribbon options include standard or premium black, or a choice of green, blue, red, white, silver or gold.

According to HID the DTC1000M connects via USB or optional Ethernet port and the embedded Swift ID application enables users to start printing cards immediately with no software licensing cost. For magnetic stripe cards, an optional module enables inline, one-step encoding and card printing.
