Muhlbauer opens Serbian facility

Serbia’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Ivica Dacic, has opened Muhlbauer’s Technology Centre of Engineering and Production.
According to Mr Dacic, the centre, which is in the city of Stara Pazova, is the result of Serbo-German cooperation. It will produce secure, high-quality passports and identity documents for the Serbian Ministry of the Interior.
Muhlbauer has been working with the Serbian authorities since 2003, when it secured its first contract with the ministry.
The firm already produces biometric passports for Serbian citizens. According to Mr Dacic, in the past four years the country has issued four million biometric passports. Since 2010, it has also issued approximately 2.5 million new registration and driving licences.
